Fishing in Basse Terre Guadeloupe makes for perfect bone fishing !
Deep-Sea Fishing -- Blue marlin, wahoo (known locally as thazar), and yellowfin tuna can be fished throughout the year; the season for dorado (mahimahi) is limited to November through May. Hotels can usually recommend a deep-sea outfitter or two, but one of the island's most consistently reliable is Capitaine Valere Moulin, who moors his 11m (36-ft.) Bertram in the Marina du Bas du Fort in Gosier. A full-day deep-sea fishing expedition for up to four fishermen at a time, with a picnic lunch and all equipment included, costs 1,000€ ($1,300). A well-recommended competitor with roughly the same equipment and prices is Michel's Deep Sea Fishing who's usually moored offshore the Plage de Malendure, but who moves his craft to various ports on Guadeloupe and its offshore dependencies, depending on the tides, the season, and business. Other competitors that we know less well, but with roughly the same deals, include Le Maniwaki and Le Manolo.
